It's been three long years.....
Woodstock Tango
welcomes Junior Cervila back to the USA and Woodstock
for his 4th visit to the arts colony and his
first extended visit to New York since Dec. 2005!

Junior is one of the most spectacular and respected
tango performers in the world. I also think
of him as one of Woodstock Tango's "root
gurus",
- As a dancer and choreographer, he's been called
the “Gene Kelly of Latin Dance” and
is acclaimed for his creative and dramatic tango
stylings, intricate footwork & lightning
precision, as well as his incredible dance versatility.
- Junior burst onto the scene in the late '80's
as the star of Broadway's Tango Argentino, and
has spent the last several years teaching & performing
in Bs. As. and touring internationally with his
own spectacular show LATIN DANCE CARNIVAL. He
is also the partner of choice for the great tango
legend
Maria Nieves!
- Best of all, he is a fantastic, generous, patient
teacher, concentrating on beautiful, correct
technique at all levels, that can be appiied
to all styles of Argentine tango.

AND PRECISION: A
sacada is the most common term for a displacement
of a leg or foot by the partner’s
leg or foot. Sounds pedantic, but oh, is it wonderful
when done correctly! A crucial tango move. Junior
is a master at sacadas!
4:45-6:15 - SEXY VOLGADAS FOR THE SOCIAL DANCE
FLOOR: The leader
causes the follower to tilt or lean forward and
fall off her axis before he catches her again.
The process produces a beautiful leg drop from
her. The movement requires the support of a close
embrace. COOL....

THANK-YOU for a GREAT DANCE FURY EVENT AND
COWABUNGA MILONGA EXTRAVAGANZA! - What
a great weekend. Angel Garcia Clemente's Tango
Y Mas Dance Company featuring Cecelia Saia,
Mariana Parma, Heather Gehring, Jason Colacino,
Lou Brock and Angel, was stupendous. Comments
ranging from "this was like a Broadway
show...you could have charged a hundred bucks!" to "I
have never seen such amazing dancing like that!" were
frequent! We had many professional dancers
in the audience to see this show, so you know
it was cool! The Peter Buettner Quartet from
Woodstock rounded out the program marvelously,
and the milonga and swing dances afterward
went til 1a. Thanks especially to our team...Patricia
Fodor, Evelyn Meier, Graham Blackburn, Caitlin
G., Tara, and to Lisa Hantes from the Bearsville
Theater. We will not be having another of these
shows this year, so you'll have to wait at
least another year for an encore!
Our annual Milonga
Cowabunga Paella/Dance on Sunday (for many who
came to the Saturday show and other friends and
family) hosted nearly 200 people who blissed
out on Chef Efrain Martinez's incredible giant
paella and danced til after 1am...tango, salsa,
latin, swing, jungle rock...what a blast-( I
LOVED DJing this floor)! Thanks to Dan Feldman
for originating this spectacular event and for
hosting at his beautiful home and to Chef Ef
for his 'heavenly ambrosia' . Thanks all.

regular 7p-9:30 weekly classes continues with
Anton Gazenbeek, who with Sergio Segura, founded
the new School for Traditional Tango in NYC.
Anton is a renowned performer, teacher and
tango historian who has traveled ghe world
teaching tango. Brush up your techinique (Anton

present Carlos Stasi, organizer/teacher of
Porteno y Bailerin, one of BsAs's most popular
milongas and a wonderful dancer, teacher
and actor. Carlos is pure Buenos Aires...a
delight. We begin with a Salon Tango workshop
at 7:30-9p at the Ukrainian Club in Cohoes,
followed by milonga with demo. On Saturday,
Carlos teaches an afternoon of workshops
in Woodstock. Fantastic! Take advantage of

Tango orchestra/quartet -the wonderful bandoneonista
Bob Barnes- when we both attended the Academia
Nacional de Tango music course last July
in Buenos Aires, so I am thrilled to host
them..This lovely quartet (plus possible
add't surprises) is one of America's few
home-grown tango bands and they are good!
So..yes Thursday June 19... we'll have a
special milonga with live music, so be sure
to mark the date and tell all your tango
friends not to miss this one!! $20 for this
special night. I will be djing between sets!

to get him to teach a salsa classs while he's here!
